Kick start your immune system!

My daily beverage of choice, green tea. It is a potent source of catechins - healthy antioxidants that can inhibit cancer cell activity and help boost immunity. Everyone could use a little immunity boost, since everywhere we turn someone is sick. It also helps protect against bacterial infections, reduces inflammation, and enhances the effects of antibiotics.

  1. Is all green tea the same? Example basic Lipton green tea vs. a fancy brand from a tea shop?

  2. I believe that not all green teas are quite the same. Excessive processing, just like any other food, damages the plant and means the nutrients are less accessible to you. Sometimes teas like Lipton are highly processed and you can see that by the size of the leaves in the bag (there almost like a powder). A better quality tea will have bigger leaves, and more of its nutrients in tact.

Also, when you brew your tea try not to use boiling water. Let the water sit for a minute before you put the tea in. Otherwise the tea will taste bitter due to the tea leaves being 'cooked'.

I wouldn't go crazy spending big bucks on the tea, but try other brands such as Tazo or Twinings. If your looking to splurge a little https://www.itoen.com/tea-bags.html has really great teas as well.
